Lets face it as the kids get older, and they start to learn to play by themselves, it all too easy to forget that they still need you to play as well. Yes we all know the importance of imaginary play and the allowance of self discovery, but this does not mean endless lonesome free range play. As a natural parent, and working mum with 2 kids, I myself have am guilty of the occasional consumption of work with a touch of neglect and reliance on free range play.
I know how hard it is to be a stay at home parent, a working parent and parents of multiply kids but it is important that remember that these moments pass soo quickly and no matter how hard we try we won’t get them back, so making sure we are compassionate parents by making time to play with our kids is a plus on the list of things to achieve in life.
MAKE TIME. oh time how it runs away from us but catching 1 hour a day or even a week can make a world of difference to your relationship with your kids. It may sound so un organic and unnatural but if you don’t have the time schedule time. Thats right, whiles you are booking all the playdates in the world that see you going from park to park, and endless house visits, take the time to schedule in a playdate with your little ones, after all you are their friend too!
WHAT TO PLAY. Well, I am pretty sure this one is easy. The sky is the limit. I have now come to realize, my kids just want to play, they don’t care if the story doesn’t make sense or that you repeat yourself several times. It’s just time with you, which is awesome. Start with a card game or board if you are trying to get your barrings back and have been out of the game for a while, once you start to feel the urge to want to win against them, I will say your inner child is back. Head to the park and kick the ball around, you might be surprise to find, you don’t need a goalie to lose that football match. If your heart just can’t handle the mild acceleration from playing defense, than it’s time to bring it indoors.
awesome 3d glasses make with straws and tape! Mum helped me make it and I think it’s awesome!
WHAT PLAY DID I GET UP THIS WEEK? With a deadline staring in the face this week, we went small. Our first imaginary 3D image and glasses. It was amazing! I saw doors flying at me, butterflies coming towards me, and the waves from the ocean was soo cool I felt I could almost touch it.
If you look really hard using your 3d glasses you will see a house, an ocean, a butterfly and some sea creatures
Soo remember to make time, in the evening, or the morning, on the weekend, because it’s not how much time you spend but rather how you spend it that makes a world of difference
